Being raised in Jamaica, reggae plays a naturally important role in singer Ray Darwin's life. At the age of 12 Ray leaves Jamaica to live with his father in New York. "My dad never supported me, he wanted me to join the Army. I had to work as a taxi driver to make a living. All this really made me angry." But Ray finds a way to express his anger. "I grew up in Jamaica; therefore reggae has always been a natural part of my life. I loved the sound. What really helped me in this situation back then was the music; you could say music saved my life." All the energy, anger and the power of rock music enables him to express his music in a completely different way compared to the rather peaceful und chilled reggae music. From this moment on Ray's passion for rock music began. He discovered Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. Besides being a member of reggae bands he is now also a member of several rock bands. He plays as supporting act for many established musicians like Joan Jett, Ween, B52s and Dan Aykroyd`s Blues Brothers. At the same time he is enrolled at a university, where he takes several classes to form his voice. In 2002 Ray Darwin releases his first solo single in Germany, a great reggae version of the 1965 song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", which was originally sung by the British <b>...</b>

Journey Through A State of Trance 450 with Armin Van Buuren

My compilation video of footage taken on April 3, 2010 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Produced by Armin Van Buuren, A State of Trance (ASOT) is a weekly radio show broadcasting all over the world (via air and the internet) for the past 9 years, showcasing the latest and hottest in trance music. Every 50 episodes (or about every year) they throw a mega party celebrating ASOT, sometimes spanning different days across multiple countries. In the case of ASOT 450, there were 5 different nights across 4 cities of the world: Toronto, New York, Bratislava, and Wroclaw with performances of over 30 DJs. Each event (approx. 8 hours) was broadcast live, free, over the internet for for the world to join in. Armin Van Buuren, when not performing, was backstage interacting with fans via Twitter, E-mail, and Chat, as well as interviewing DJs pre and post performance to catch some of their vibes. The final closing event in Wroclaw was also broadcast via live streaming video. You won't want to miss the mega parties when ASOT 500 hits sometime next year! Since 2003 it feeds music lovers with massive tracks, that manage to capture your senses and outshine the rest. In doing so it doesn't focus on one style only, but does keep its ears open to big floor filling tracks. Pumping baselines as heard on W&W's 'Arena' are just as welcome as lovely vocal tracks like 'Find Yourself' by John O'Callaghan. Over the years Captivating Sounds has proved to have a special feel for the true, outstanding trance anthems. You'll find both all-time classic 'Love shines through' by Chakra as well as Dash Berlin's first track 'Till The Sky Falls Down' on this label. In 2009 Captivating Sounds released its 100th track. The first 100 releases, before that milestone, included tracks of producers like Robert Nickson, Dave 202, Niels van Gogh, Paul Webster, M6 and MIKE under his Plasticboy alias.
